Solar compatibility

Solar panel compatibility, station by station

A solar input rated in watts tells you almost nothing about whether a given panel will work. These pages check the voltage window, the cold-weather voltage rise, the input current limit and the connector, and say plainly where a manufacturer has not published enough to answer.

Our answer

5 stations have both a published input envelope and at least one catalogued panel that clears every check, and 8 panels publish enough to be checked against them. Every other station is left out of this family rather than answered on watts alone.

Stations that can be answered

A compatibility verdict needs the station's voltage window and its input current limit. Most manufacturers publish a watt ceiling and stop there, which is why this list is shorter than the product database.

Stations with a published solar input envelope
StationInput windowCurrent limitMax solarPanels that clear

Goal Zero Yeti 50012.3–28V10A200W3 of 8

Goal Zero Yeti 150012.3–60V20A600W3 of 8
Goal Zero Yeti PRO 400013.3–150V30A3000W5 of 8

A station reaches this table only when its manufacturer publishes both a voltage window and a current limit. Without them there is no compatibility answer to give, only a watt comparison.

The panels these checks use

Panel records carry the same rule as station records: every figure comes from the manufacturer's published specification, and a figure they do not publish stays empty rather than being estimated.

Two gaps recur. Short-circuit current is published for a minority of panels, and the temperature coefficient governing cold-weather voltage rise for fewer still. Both feed checks that protect a charge controller, so neither is filled in with a plausible-looking number.

Short-circuit current is the conservative figure for checking an input limit. Where it is unpublished the panel's rated output current is used instead, and every pairing resting on it says so.

Stations with the data but no match in this catalogue

6 more stations publish a complete input envelope, but no panel in this catalogue clears every check against them, so they have no page yet. The catalogue is currently all Goal Zero, because Goal Zero is the only manufacturer here that publishes open-circuit voltage for its panels. Most of those failures are connector mismatches between brands rather than anything wrong with the hardware.

Saying that is more useful than publishing a page whose only answer is "none". When a panel that clears one of these inputs is catalogued, its page appears on its own.

Questions that change the decision

Why are some power stations missing from this list?

Because their manufacturer does not publish the solar input voltage window, the input current limit, or both. Without those the only available comparison is watts against watts, which cannot tell you whether a panel will charge the station or damage it. Those stations keep their product pages and are left out of this family rather than given a guess.

Are these results tested?

No. Every figure comes from a manufacturer's published specification, and the verdicts are calculations against those figures. Nothing here has been measured on a bench, and each page says which checks the published data cannot settle.
