How to interpret the estimate

The station input ceiling caps the array before planning losses are applied. The ideal-hour result assumes the effective input is sustained. The solar-day result also applies the peak-sun-hours input, which is a daily energy window rather than the number of daylight hours.

Clouds, shade, temperature, panel angle, cable loss, charge taper, and battery thermal limits can extend charging. Use the station manual to verify the complete voltage, current, watt, and connector envelope.

Solar charging time starts with the smaller watt limit

The effective input begins with the smaller of the panel-array rating and the station maximum. An 800W array connected to a station that accepts 600W is still screened at 600W before losses. The calculator then applies the planning efficiency to account for ordinary conversion and operating loss.

Ideal charging hours equal battery watt-hours divided by effective charging watts. The result is useful for comparing station and array combinations, but it assumes the effective input is sustained. Charge taper, battery temperature, clouds, shade, panel angle, cable loss, and controller behavior can extend the real session.

Peak sun hours describe daily energy, not daylight

Peak sun hours compress a day of changing irradiance into an equivalent number of full-output hours. Multiplying effective charging watts by peak sun hours estimates daily solar energy. It does not mean the array produces its rating for that many clock hours.
